Tomorrow I embark on an incredible journey. I’m headed to Alabama, but that’s not the journey I’m talking about. About a month ago, I was given a tool that is going to help me implement goal setting and achieving in my life. I’m actually really excited about it! This tool is a kind of goal-journal that helps you focus in on 4 goals for 12 weeks. You dream up all sorts of goals, and then eventually commit to 4…that’s why I’m just now starting this book and I’ve had it since last month! Tonight, I committed to my 4 goals. This was super hard for me because I wanted to pick more than 4. But then I realized that this all restarts in 12 weeks so I can pick more goals then! Drumroll, please!
Goal #1: Get a full time job
Goal #2: Make huge strides in paying off student loan debt
Goal #3: Read 1 book
Goal #4: Mentor and be mentored
These goals are somewhat broad and can be broken down into many different smaller goals, but here’s the fun part of this book: I can make those smaller goals and implement them into the book daily. I’m asked each day to look at each goal and write down the steps I took to achieve that particular goal.
So even though it may seem like I will never achieve getting a full time job in 3 months, that’s because I don’t really need a full time job in 3 months…I like my job now and will not be leaving. However, I do need to begin taking steps in planning for life after camp this summer.
Also, I know that leaders are readers and I want to always be reading and thinking and learning. To be a better leader, I wanted to set a goal that was achievable in the 12 week time period. I plan to read at least 1 book every 3 months.
Wish me luck! And I’ll keep you updated.

Good Luck Jen! I’m proud of you for committing to the process!
